On Thursday, October 29th students joined community experts from the City of Peoria and the Town of Clarkdale for two informative panel sessions. The Project Cities team was thrilled to further connect ASU students with city and town leadership to answer questions and gain further insight on this semester’s projects. City of Peoria Communication Office Panel
Students from classes in sustainability leadership, communication, and engineering interacted with panelists Jennifer Stein, Peoria’s Director of Communications, and Kristina Perez, Peoria’s Marketing and Communications Manager, as well as ASU risk communication scholar, Majia Nadesan. Our community experts lent their professional perspectives on public relations and communication amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Town of Clarkdale Historic Preservation Discussion
Students from multiple classes in engineering, public policy, and sustainability, focusing their projects on the Town of Clarkdale tuned in for a presentation featuring Clarkdale Councilmember Bill Regner, Michael Linder, President of the Clarkdale Historical Society, Clarkdale Development Services Director, Ruth Mayday, and ASU built environment expert Lauren Allsop. The discussion focused on the history of Clarkdale, its Bitter Creek Bridge, and thoughts on how to restore it while maintaining its historic integrity and character.
